The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry yesterday recommended taking immediate steps to implement the Wireless Broadband Network (WBN) project within the tenure of the current government, reports UNB. The parliamentary watchdog came up with the suggestion at its 28th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangshad Bhaban with its chairman Imran Ahmed in the chair.
It also suggested taking effective measures as the mobile phone operators can submit their audit reports to the BTRC and Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology after completing their financial and technical audits through their respective auditor. The committee also held an elaborate discussion on the improvement of its previous decisions taken earlier.
It also asked BTRC (Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission) to take measures to control the number of messages sent by mobile operators to their customers. Committee members State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Moazzem Hossain Ratan, Shawkat Hachanur Rahman (Rimon), Sheikh Afil Uddin, Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia attended the meeting. Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology (IT) Minister Mustafa Jabbar was also present at the meeting.
