8 killed in separate accidents

Our Dinajpur correspondent says: Two persons were crushed under the wheels of a running train in Hakimpur upazila yesterday. The deceased were identified as Razu Ahmed, 28, and Saddam Hossain, 25, both hailing from Bijul village in Birampur upazila of the district. OC of Hakimpur Mokhlesur Rahman quoting witnesses said Dhaka-bound intercity train Drutojan Express hit the duo on the rail track at Satkuri at around 10.30am, leaving them dead on the spot.
Witnesses said the two did not notice the train coming as they were talking on mobile phone during rain.  Our Gazipur correspondent reports: A covered van driver was killed and his helper injured in a road accident at MC Bazaar area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sreepur upazila of the district yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Yusuf Ali, 35, of Panchgaon in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj district. OC of Mawna highway police Helal-ul-Islam said the accident occurred when the covered van hit a parked car on the highway in the area at about 5 am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving its driver Yusuf dead on the spot and helper Sheikh Farid injured. Locals sent Farid to Begum Ayesha Hospital at Mawna Chowrasta.
 In Chapainawabganj: An ambulance driver was killed after the vehicle fell down from a culvert at Sarjan area in Sadar upazila early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Abed Ali, 50, an ambulance driver of Gomastapur Upazila Health Complex and an inhabitant of Quarterpara under Rohonpur municipality.
Sub-inspector of Chapainawabganj sadar police Kamrul Islam and chairman of Gobratala union parishad Araful Islam said the accident occurred when the ambulance fell into the water at a place where a culvert was earlier washed away by heavy rains.
Police and a team of fire brigade personnel from Chapainawabganj rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Our Staff correspondent from Sirajganj adds: At least four people were killed and three others injured in Shamoly Para bus terminal area on the Bogra-Nagorbari highway on Monday night.  The deceased were identified as Bachchhu Sheikh, 30, Alamgir Hossain, 25, Biplab Hossain, 22, and Phulchand Pramanik, 40. All of them hailed from Pabna district. The injured were admitted to Sirajganj General Hospital in critical condition. AZM Tazul Huda, OC of Ullapara model police, said the accident took place at 10.30pm while a Bogra-bound onion-laden truck from Pabna hit a CNG driven auto-rickshaw, injuring seven persons. Three of the injured succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital, while another one died at hospital. Police seized the truck and arrested truck driver Modhu Bishwas, 36, soon after the accident.A
