Beximco Masters win a one-run thriller

Beximco Dhaka Masters led by Khaled Mahmud Sujon got off to a flying start when they pulled off a sensational one-run victory over Raw-Nation Khulna Masters on the opening day fixture of the Walton Masters Cricket Carnival at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium (SKICS) Academy Ground in Cox’s Bazar yesterday.

Opted to bat, Beximco mustered 117-7 in 16 over s with   Foisal Hossain Dickens’ 39, after which Khulna manged to score  116-8 in the stipulated overs.  

In day’s other match at the SKICS, Air Asia Rajshahi Masters edged out Sylhet Sixers Masters by six wickets.

Put into bat, Sylhet Sixers Masters scored 112 for seven in 16 overs thanks to Anisul Hakim Khan’s 51 after which Air Asia Rajshahi Masters overhauled the target with six wickets and 11 balls to spare. Anisur Rahman top-scored for Rajshahi Masters with 37 and later adjudged man of the match.

Former left-arm spinner Enamul Haque Moni, who bowled the 10-ball over as the first bowler of the Bangladesh, picked two wickets in his kitty giving away 35 runs. Mushfiqur Rahman grabbed a brace for Rajshahi Masters.       

Powered by Scant Cement, a total of five teams is participating in the carnival of the former cricketers, the tournament- dubbed ‘battle of hundred ball’-where in Beximco Dhaka Masters will face off Rajshahi Masters at 11:30am today. Private satellite television “Channel-i” will live telecast the match from the venue ground. Chattagram Masters will take on Sylhet Masters at the SKICS Academy ground at 3:15pm, while Raw-Nation Khulna Sixers will lock horns with Rajshahi Masters at the same time at the SKICS.
