Ashfaq-Ur-Rahman Ayon alias Arif alias Anik, the IT chief of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team, made his 'confessional statement' before a court in Dhaka yesterday in a case filed with Bhatara Police Station under the Anti-terrorism Act, reports UNB. Metropolitan Magistrate Khurshed Alam recorded the statement of Ashfaq in his private chamber under section of 164 after Inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) SM Shahrier Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court on completion of his five-day remand period. Later, the IT chief was sent to jail, said sub-inspector Masum Miah, also general recording officer of the court. On Tuesday, a Dhaka court placed Ashfaq on the five-day remand after members of CTTC arrested him from the city's Bhatara area on Monday night.
