Mother, son killed in road accident

OUR CORRESPONDENT, Bogra

A retired junior pharmacy officer of Bangladesh Air Force and his mother were killed in a road accident in Charmatha area of Bogra town yesterday. His younger sister Mamata Begum was seriously injured in the accident. The deceased are Afiya Bibi, 85, wife of late Mofiz Uddin Akhand, and her son Md Samsul Alam, 65, of village Ghagurduar Akahand Para in Shibganj upazila. Shamsul was owner of Shoring High Travels Limited, a hajj agency.
Police and local sources said Shamsul Alam came to Bogra for an important work on Saturday night. He was going to his relative’s house with a battery driven three wheelers around 2.30pm. When they reached Charmatha area a Rangpur bound truck hit the vehicle leaving Shamsul Alam dead on the spot and his mother and sister injured. Police seized the truck and a unnatural death (UD) case was filed with Shadar police station in this connection.
