Biker killed in road crash   

A motorcyclist was killed as a bus hit him at Kalasara on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway on Sunday morning.
The accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Hanif Paribahan’ knocked down Jasim Miah, 32, son of late Rana Miah of Moulvibazar district, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station Sahid Ullah. However, local people blocked the highway following the accident for half an hour protesting the incident.

Mason electrocuted 
A mason died from electrocution while working at an under-construction building in Paranpur area of Rajshahi on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Mithun Ali, 20, son of Moktar Ali, a resident of Mungli village.
Mithun came in contact with a live electric wire while working on the rooftop of an under-construction building around 12:30 pm, said officer-in-charge Nibaran Chandra Barman of Charghat Model Police Station.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.

ActionAid Int’l Bangladesh gets new committee
The ActionAid International Bangladesh (AAB) has formed a 10-member new body for next three years while Barrister Manzoor Hasan, OBE, a public policy reform specialist, has been elected as chairperson.
The apex body of the organisation (General Assembly) has also chosen Abdus Sattar Sarkar, a Cratered Accountant, as the treasurer, said a press release on Saturday. In a meeting, twenty seven (General Assembly) members of the AAB have elected the 10 new executive board members.
ActionAid Bangladesh has been working in Bangladesh since 1983 to eradicate poverty and injustice.

3817 cases filed for violating traffic rules 
The traffic department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) carried out various drives in the capital and fined drivers for violating traffic rules on Friday.
During the drive, the traffic authorities filed some 3,817 cases against drivers for using hydraulic horns, driving on wrong direction and using tainted black glass. 
They also dumped one vehicle and wrecked 345 unfit others during the day-long drive.
