GAZIPUR: The 13th death anniversary of freedom fighter, lawmaker and teacher Ahsanullah Master was observed on Sunday, reports UNB.
Different programmes organised by Shaheed Ahsanullah Master (MP) Smriti Parishad and several other organisations were held in Dhaka and Gazipur, making the day.
The programmes include placing wreaths at the grave of Ahsanullah Master at Hyderabad village in Gazipur, reciting holy Quran, milad and doa mahfil, wearing black badges, food distribution among the poor, meeting and publishing souvenir.
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Minister Meher Afroz Chumki, Awami League MP from Gazipur-2 constituency Zahid Ahsan Russel and leaders and activists of Awami League placed wreaths on the grave of Ahsanullah Master.
A discussion meeting was held where speakers demanded immediate execution of the verdict in Ahsanullah Master killing case pronounced by a court.
On May 7, 2004, a gang of miscreants shot Ahsanullah Master to death at a rally at MA Majid Mia High School ground at Noagaon, Tongi.
He was elected as lawmaker twice from Gazipur-2 (Gazipur sadar and Tongi) constituency in 1996 and 2001.
He was also a national committee member of ruling Awami League.
