6 held with 28,000 yaba in Ctg

Police yesterday in separate drives at different parts of the city arrested six people along with 28,000 contraband yaba tablets.

Of them, Bayezid police station recovered 12,600 pieces of yaba, Bakalia police station recovered 10,000 pieces while Patenga police station recovered 5,000 pieces of yaba tablets along with six people.
In the morning Bakalia police in a drive at a truck, at Shah Amanat Bridge area, coming from Teknaf, seized 10,000 yaba tablets hiding inside gas cylinder and arrested the helper and driver of the truck.
The arrestees were identified as Md Hossen, 30 and Zahir Ahmed, 24.
Pranab Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakalia Police station, said “The truck was carrying 383 gas cylinders. In a cylinder we have found the yaba.”
Bayezid Police in another drive in Oxygen area early yesterday arrested a man along with 6,300 contraband yaba. Gleaning information in a further drive police held two more alleged drug peddlers along with 6,300 yaba tablets from Oxygen-Hathazari road.
The arrestees were identified as Kabir Hossain, 42, Md Younus, 25, and Md Zahid Hossain, 30.
