Ready to bank on renovated rooms

In a bid to enhance its competitive edge the country’s leading five-star hotel the Pan Pacific Sonargaon has undertaken huge renovation works phase by phase and by April this year the renovation work of the accommodation part of the hotel will be completed.
After first phase of renovation work, the 7th and 8th floor were opened for the guests from March 1 this year, Assistant Director of Marketing and Public Relations of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Salman Kabir Told The Independent. Responding to a question, Salman Kabir replied that the 7th and 8th floor, comprising of total 65 rooms and 11 suites, got total remodelling through adding premium facilities and modern touches. The entire environment becomes more luxurious as the remodelling was done through complete perfection to enhance guests’ comfort.
“Previously, we had one presidential suite on 8th floor, now we have refurbished the floor and built another presidential suite for VIP guests, such as Presidents and other top foreign dignitaries”, described Kabir. “The response we received so far from the foreign and local guests have been enormous”, he added.
Talking about the condition of the 5th and 6th floor of the hotel, Kabir told The Independent that premier rooms situate on 5th and 6th floor and 90 per cent renovation works have already been done. “These two floors will be completely operative within the month of April”, Kabir mentioned.
Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka is recognised as part of a global chain of Pan Pacific Hotels Group and it has a portfolio of more than 30 hotels and resorts around the world.
Director of Sales and Marketing of Sonargaon MA Awal said that Renovation work will be continued phase by phase. “After completing the renovation work of the hotel rooms, we will start renovating the hall rooms, meeting rooms and restaurants, he added.
“We want to maximise the entire market share and that is our prime objective behind renovating this five star hotel,” Awal told The Independent.
The hotel which started its operation in 1981, undertook first major renovation in 2007. Joint Venture of Interriors International Ltd Ind. LLC and Accom Engineering Company got the renovation contract through international bidding. But just before completion of the first phase of the work that is renovation of the 3rd and 4th floor, the then military backed caretaker government forced the contractor to stop the work.
The contractor was also asked to leave huge quantity of materials which were purchased for the renovation. This caused huge loss for the contractor company, concerned officials said. However, after the restoration of democracy in the country, the renovation work started again.
Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka having 277 suites and hotel rooms has been operating for more than 35 years in Bangladesh and it has been maintaining all the guidelines under the supervision of Pan Pacific Group, informed Kabir.
