A Gaibandha court yesterday placed Former Jatiya Party MP Dr Abdul Kader Khan, who was arrested for his suspected involvement in the killing of Gaibandha-1 MP Manjurul Islam Liton, on a five-day remand in an arms case, reports UNB from Gaibandha.
Gaibandha Chief Judicial Magistrate Taskquinul Haque passed the order when the investigation officer of the case produced Khan before the court with seven-day remand prayer.
Earlier, on February 26, Abdul Kader Khan gave a confessional statement before Gaibandha Judicial Magistrate M Joynul Abedin under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
Detectives arrested Dr Abdul Kader Khan, former Jatiya Party MP from Gaibandha-1, from his residence at Rahman Nagar Ziladarpara in Bogra district town on February 21.
On the following day, a district court put Kader Khan on a 10-day remand for interrogation.
Based on information he provided during the remand, police conducted a raid on his house at Pashchim Chhaparhati village in Sundarganj upazila and seized a pistol, a magazine and six bullets from his home. A case was filed in this connection later.
Liton was shot at point blank range by miscreants at his village home at Masterpara in Bamandanga union of Sundarganj upazila on December 31.
He was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
