‘Value women’s work at family level’

GAIBANDHA: Speakers at a function here on Tuesday underscored the need for sharing the services of females at family level and giving recognition to their domestic works for a better society, reports BSS.
“In this context, an emphasis should be given to change the mindset and attitude of males in families to reduce the pressure of domestic works being done by women,” they said.
They made the comments while addressing a view exchange meeting on reducing the service works of females at family level in the hall room of SKS Inn in Radhakrishnapur area under Sadar upazila. SKS Foundation, a reputed NGO, arranged the function under Resilience through Economic Empowerment, Climate Adaptation, Leadership and Learning project funded by ukaid and Oxfam.
With Rajab Ali, head of programmes of SKS Foundation, in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by district information officer Sabiha Akter Lucky, president of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha, district chapter, Firoza Begum, president of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, district unit, Amatunur Chhara, and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman while project coordinator Baharam Khan was the moderator.
The speakers also emphasized providing modern devices like Bandhu Chula, gas stove, rice cookers and other utensils to help them reduce the pressure of domestic works and maintain their sound heath side by side with conducting awareness activity in society.
Earlier, a power point presentation on the theme was also made by business development officer of the project Nadia Sultana.
Over 50 persons, including government officials, representatives of private companies, women leaders, NGO activists, social workers and journalists of the print and electronic media took part in the meeting.
