KHULNA: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed yesterday launched Large Patrol Craft (LPC) and Submarine Handling Tug Boat for Bangladesh Navy on Khulns Ship Yard (KSY) premises, saying that now the capability of Navy strengthened after handing over it to Naval fleet, reports BSS.
"Khulna Shipyard is playing vital role for country's security through constructing warships, submarine and other Patrol Craft for Bangladesh Army, Navy and Coast Guard," he told the ceremony.
Ahmed, also the chairman of KSY directory board, said KSY was a losing concern before 1999 and it turned into profitable after handed over to Bangladesh Navy as per decision of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
