Scattered rains may interrupt the third and final one day international between Bangladesh and India in Dhaka tomorrow as non-stop showers may hit the capital on the day and may continue up to June 27.
A computer projection by the meteorological department, for rains this month, shows scattered showers are likely to hit the capital and other places from tomorrow and may continue till June 27.
The Met office projection comes following a rejuvenated monsoon that has got a shot in the arms following a depression that brewed in the north western Bay of Bengal and turned into a well marked low over the Indian state of Orissa after crossing its shores on Sunday afternoon.
It left behind convective clouds and steep pressure gradient over the north Bay, leaving the sea stormy prompting the Met office issuing warning signal number 3 for the sea ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Paira.
The low may also influence heavy rain falls in parts of Khulna, Chittagong and Barisal divisions during the next 24 hours beginning at 11am yesterday, meteorological department sources said quoting their computer model projection for the monsoon that has spread over the country on June 11.
The reason behind such behaviour of the weather was ascribed to a monsoon that may remain weak this rainy season with lesser falls, Met office sources said.
However, a steep pressure gradient and convective cloud created over the north Bay was expected to inject life to the weak monsoon in the sea.
The rains may trigger landslides in the hills of Chittagong division, a Met office warning predicting heavy rainfall said.
