Master’s first semester students of the Department of English of Dhaka University (DU) on Monday boycotted the semester final examination for incompletion of their admission process and inadequate preparation for the examination. The examination was scheduled to begin at 9:00am but none of the total 150 students of the semester took part in the examination. Meanwhile, the authorities on Sunday afternoon issued their provisional role numbers but they did not take those to attend for ‘lack of enough preparation’. But they said that they will take part in the next examinations that will be held from June 27. Earlier, on Sunday they besieged the vice chancellor's office demanding adjournment of their final examinations. The students observed that they raised the demand as many of them, who passed the honours examinations, did not get their results and mark sheets on time that led to delay in their admission. The master’s first semester examinations were scheduled to begin on June 18. But the admission process of masters started after they received mark sheets of honours fourth year’s final semester on June 11. “Out of 150 students in our class, about 100 have not yet started the admission process,” said one of the students.
