Fake notes, hemp seized; three held

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested three people and seized Indian and Bangladeshi fake currency notes worth to Tk 10,500 in Shibganj area of Chapainawabganj on Sunday. In a separate drive, the RAB also seized 400 grams of hemp from the same area. RAB sources said a team of RAB from Chapainawabganj camp raided the Shibganj Upazila Health Complex premises at around 7:30 pm and arrested Sahabuddin. RAB seized three Bangladeshi five hundred taka fake notes, eight Bangladeshi one thousand taka fake notes and two Indian five hundred rupee fake notes from his possession. The arrestees were AKM Sahabuddin, 22, of Sherpur Bhandar village under Shibganj upazila of the district, Selina Begum, 38, of Railbagan Udayan square and Shree Krisna Das, of Alinagar Hajirmore in Chapainawabganj municipality. He used to cheat people with the fake currency notes and was involved in drug business for a long time, sources added. Later, he was handed over to Shibganj police station. Earlier, RAB raided Railbagan area in Chapainawabganj town at around 3 pm and arrested Selina Begum and Shree Krisna with 400 grams of hemp. They had been involved in drug business for a long time, RAB sources added. They were handed over to Chapainawabganj Sadar Model police station.
