The 44th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Krishak League (BKL), an associate body of the ruling Awami League, will be observed in the city as elsewhere across the country today, reports BSS.
On this day in 1972, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman floated Bangladesh Krishak League for development of country’s agriculture sector and to protect the interests of the farmers.
Since its inception, BKL has been working for organising the country’s farmers’ community and realising their legitimate demands. It has played glorious role in democratic movements in the country. On the eve of the founding anniversary of BKL, Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has issued a message.
In her message, the Prime Minister said, “Along with development of the country’s agriculture sector and changing the farmers’ lot, leaders and workers of BKL will dedicate themselves further for the betterment of common people.
They would also build a golden country free from hunger, poverty and illiteracy as dreamt by Father of the Nation.”
