The domestic football season of 2015-16 has been deferred for two days while it will begin from April 1 instead of today.
According to an earlier decision, the season was due to kick-off today with the KFC Independence Cup Football tournament. But due to some unavoidable circumstances the BFF was forced to make the reschedule.
Meanwhile, 11 teams out of 12 the Bangladesh Premier League will play the season’s inaugural tournament splitting into two groups.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club decided not to take part in the Independence Cup before a solution of eight players, who played for them last season and signed for other clubs for coming season.
Mohammedan Sporting Club, Brothers Union, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Chittagong Abahani Limited and Uttar Baridhara were drawn in the Group A.
Dhaka Abahani Limited, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, BJMC, Soccer Club Feni, Rahmatganj and Arambagh have been placed in the Group B.
In fact ten teams had originally entered their names for the tournament. Arambagh only a few days back was included in the tournament as they alleged that they did not receive any invitation from the Bangladesh Football Federation.
