Eleven war heroines to be honoured

The ‘71 Foundation will honour 11 valiant female freedom fighters today for their unforgettable contribution to the War of Liberation and working for implementation of its spirit, reports BSS.
The organisation would honour them through a function at Shishu Academy Auditorium in the capital at 3 pm on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of independence.
Those who would be honoured are Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib (posthumously), Ayesha Khanam, Professor Panna Qaisar, Ferdousi Priyabhashini, Dr Valerie A Taylor, Mamtaz Begum, Rokeya Kabir, Lubna Mariam, Sheela Momen, Advocate Sultana Kamal and Professor Hannana Begum.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will attend the function as the chief guest, while former deputy speaker Colonel (retd) Shawkat Ali, MP, will be present as the special guest. Chairman of ‘71 Foundation Dr Khaled Shawkat Ali will preside over the function.
