A two-day flower festival, first of this type, began in the capital yesterday. Agriculture Matia Chowdhury formally inaugurated the fair at Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh (KIB) complex in the capital yesterday.
Bangladesh Flower Society (BFS) with the alliance of the Agricultural Value Chains (AVC) project of USAID, Deshifool.com, Windmill Education services and Fullstop.solutions, organised the fair.
20 exhibitors from across the country are showcasing different types of flowers including roses, marigolds, gerberas and tuberoses, flower decoration products and usages of flowers in the festival.
Organisers said approximately 10,000 enthusiastic flower lovers will visit and enjoy the festival every day.
“In the past we could not think of buying flowers but now we have overcome hunger and its now a middle income country. It has become natural that we will buy flowers on any occasion”, said Matia Chowdhury.
