Three people, including two children, were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Sunamganj and Sylhet on Saturday, reports UNB. In Sunamganj, two children were killed by a lightning strike in Sunamganj municipality area and Dharmapasha upazila on Saturday evening. The deceased were identified as Afjal Miah, 12, a class VI student of Joynagar Bazar Hajigani Box High School and son of Ayub Ali, a resident of Rupabali village in Jamalganj upazila, and Fulmati Begum, 8, a resident of Tepikona village in Dharmapasha upazila. Witnesses said a streak of thunderbolt struck Afjal in Dhopakhali area of Sunamganj municipality at about 7:30 pm while he was visiting his relative’s house in the area, leaving him dead on the spot. Fulmati was killed when a thunderbolt struck her while she was playing at the courtyard of her house in the same time. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Gazi Shakhawat Hossain confirmed the incidents. In Sylhet, a streak of thunderbolt struck Azam Ali,50, son of Haris Ullah, a resident of Noagaon village in Osmaninagar upazila at about 3:30 pm while working in a field, leaving him seriously injured. Later, he was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
