At least four people have died in and around the capital of Dengue out of 1534 infected so far this season by Ades mosquito that carries the deadly disease, informed sources said.
Among the total, 727 were infected in August alone, figures available from the hospitals and the Dengue control room of the directorate of health, which monitors and collects data of Dengue patients taking treatment from 40 hospitals and clinics in and around the capital.
Although 727 were infected in August, it has not gone out of proportion in endemic form, Dr Tahmina Shirin, acting director of the Institute of Epidemic Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) told The Independent yesterday.
It’s a question of management of the patient with Paracetamol in consultation with doctors and hospitalisation, as necessary, taking plenty of fluids like saline and water as per the body weight to keep the body temperature down without dehydration. But no Aspirin should be given, the IEDCR official advised.
