A man, who went missing from Narail about one year ago, has sent a letter from India’s Dum Dum Central Jail to his father through Indian Red Cross Society. The letter written on August 22, 2015 was received by the Narail district unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society yesterday. Red Crescent Society secretary later handed over the letter to the father of the man. The man was identified as Rony Molla, 22, son of Abdul Latif Molla of Taponbhag village in sadar upazila.
Rony’s father said: “My son Rony went missing about one year. He was a motorbike mechanic and could earn a small amount of money to support the family. One morning in the month of Ashwin [September-October] he left home as usual and did not return home. Yesterday afternoon, I got a letter through Red Crescent Society and could know his whereabouts. You may ask the locals about him; my son is not dishonest or culprit. Please try to rescue him”, lamented the old man. Enamul Haque, a villager, said perhaps he crossed border illegally with a view to get a better job there. Secretary of Red Crescent Society, Narail, Kazi Ismail Hossain Liton said: “I’ll send a letter to Indian Red Cross Society acknowledging the receipt of their letter and requesting them to take initiative to give Rony legal aid..”
