Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has kept a high profile security arrangement for the Australian cricket team ahead of the much-awaiting Test series with the Tigers.
Already an advanced team of Cricket Australia (CA) is in Dhaka to look after the logistic and security arrangement coupled with practice venue. The CA team led by its chief security consultant Seam Caroll has been visiting the practice venue since the last two days.
Caroll along with Frank Dimasi appeared in Mirpur to see the security arrangement of the board. As a part of it, the BCB arranged a security drill with the help of the Bangladesh Armed forces, who staged a drama to showcase their demonstration at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS).
The demonstration had been begun in this way------
After a loud sound of gun fire, an extremist group detained players in the dressing room. Thereafter, Bangladesh Armed Forces were called to release the captives. Within a short span of time, a battalion of para commandos came forward to releasing the detained players. After making free players from the captivity of the extremists they shifted them to safer place quickly.
Since then, the commandos launched their rest work of the mission to make the stadium extremists free what they successfully did.
Bangladesh Armed Forces will stay beside BCB to successfully organize the Australia Test series. They will work together with the other law enforcement agencies in the wake of any anarchic situation and help bring the normalcy back from any abnormal situation if any such situation creates.
“This is a very much-awaiting series for Bangladesh. There will be held two Test matches, one of which will be played in Dhaka and another in Chittagong. It was told that Bangladesh Armed Forces along with all the law enforcing agencies to keep the situation conducive as much as possible for the series,” said Lt Col MM Imrul Hasan, captain of 1para commando battalion.
“In its continuation, Bangladesh Army have taken part in the security drill and you all know that when Bangladesh Army take part in any initiative they take their utmost best preparation for it. As a part of it, we along with the coordination of all the law enforcing agencies have staged a demonstration,” Hasan told media after the end of the security demonstration.
“Basically under the Ad-hoc commando battalion, the member of ad-hoc battalion along with our Military Directorate, Army Headquarter, AFD, RAB, Police, DGFI and other security intelligences took part what we present in front of you all,” he added.
The Test series was scheduled to take place in 2015 but Australia suspended the series due to the security grounds. Therefore, the new schedule for the series has been fixed on the consent of the Cricket Australia and BCB.
Australia is slated to arrive in Bangladesh to play the series tonight.
